As the owner of one of the successful carpet cleaning business in Cape Town , South Africa, I have been asked many times by customers wanting to know the difference between the carpet cleaning machines that I use and the ones they buy. In this article, I will be talking about the reasons why should stick to professionals and stop buying the store typical carpet cleaning machines.

The difference between the store and the professional carpet cleaning machines is that the former does not have the necessary power to suck or clean deep into the carpet.  The concept is the same but the store ones lack the pressure to suction the dirty water out of the carpet.  Most of the store machines have a pressure of about 10-20 pounds if you lucky. You don’t have to be an expert carpet cleaning machine to know the difference between a $200 and $5, 000 machine. There is no way that the two can be compared. The $5,000 machine must be offering something that you will never get with the $200 machine.

The problem is not with the vacuums as it does not to go deep.  My concern is that the cleaning solution is not being pushed far enough in the carpet. If you understand the mechanics of carpet cleaning, you will agree that the vacuum does not need to be perfect.

If you ask me what you should be looking for in a carpet cleaner, this is what I would say. A professional carpet cleaner must know different types of carpets and their texture.  He must be able to advice you on different types of stain removal methods and which ones work best on which type of materials. He must be able to fix damaged carpets or at least advice you on how carpets can be fixed. He must have a basic knowledge of chemistry as this is very involved during stain removal. A professional carpet cleaner must know more about carpets than an average home owner.

 If you ask me again, should I be cleaning my own carpets, my short answer will be no, let the professionals handle it and save yourself headaches.  If professionally cleaners, your home will be much healthier for both children and pets. Good carpet cleaning usually removed dust mites and allergens that could potentially cause sickness and diseases. It is advisable to clean your carpet regularly to keep your house clean at all times.
